c.1950 Marx, Driver Training Car (Blue Roof) in Original Box

The Marx Learn to Drive "Car No.1 Safe Driving School" automobile was advertised as being able to stop and turn before plunging over the edge of a table. That rarely happened. Today, although somewhat common, it's typically found dented, dinged, and cracked. Fairly often the plastic roof is missing entirely. This example is in excellent condition and comes complete with its original box.

The car is all tin litho with solid blue plastic roof, attached key and spring wound mechanical motor. Extensively lithoed on the sides, front hood, and rear trunk. The Marx logo appears on the driver's door. The front grille resembles an early 50's Studebaker coupe.

The chassis underside is also well detailed showing the engine, transaxle, frame, exhausts, and gas tank. Movement is provided with the three wheels underneath the car.

The box is a simple text style with the name of the toy and manufacturer on nearly every panel. It sold originally for 89¢.

Size: 6½" x 2¾".
